How much is a taxi from TFU to Chengdu?

Chengdu Tianfu Airport to Chengdu: train, bus or taxi

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (成都天府国际机场, TFU) is about 50 km southeast of the center. Here are the airport train, metro, buses, taxis and Didi into the city, with fares, hours and how to pay with a foreign card.

Prices and times checked 3 November 2026; they change, so check the first and last trains on the day. Arriving step by step: immigration, SIM and cash.

Short answer: Take Metro Line 18 to Chengdu South Railway Station, then change to Line 1 for the center.

Terminals: T1 and T2. International flights check in at T1; T2 is domestic only. Some Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan flights also use T1: since July 30, 2026 Air China, China Eastern, Tibet Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines still fly them from Tianfu T1, while the other carriers moved theirs to Shuangliu T1.

Ways into Chengdu

Metro Line 18 地铁18号线

Route	Tianfu Airport T1 & T2 station (between the terminals) to Chengdu South Railway Station (Lines 1, 7)
Time	about 37 minutes on an express train and about 44 on a local to the T1/T2 station
Price	¥10 to Chengdu South Railway Station
Hours	6 am to 11:30 pm in both directions
Paying	Tap a contactless Visa, Mastercard or Amex card at the gate, scan an Alipay or WeChat transit code, or buy at the machine.

Line 1 from Chengdu South Railway Station reaches Tianfu Square in about 20 minutes.

Airport buses 机场大巴

Route	Six lines: 1 to Chunxi Road, 2 to Jinsha, 3 to the zoo, 4 to Chengdu East Railway Station, 5 to Shuangliu Airport
Time	about 50 minutes to Chengdu East and about 80-90 minutes on the other lines
Price	¥15 from 6 am to 11:30 pm, ¥25 overnight
Hours	lines 1-3 run 24 hours; line 4 until about 2:30 am
Paying	Buy at the counter in the Ground Transportation Center (cash or Alipay/WeChat).

Ranks are at ground level of the Ground Transportation Center, outside Gate G02 (T1 side) and G04 (T2 side). Metered within Chengdu, with no empty-return surcharge; the airport expressway toll is ¥19.5 each way.

Time	about 60-90 minutes
Price	about ¥150-200
Hours	24 hours
Paying	In the DiDi app or the DiDi mini program in Alipay, with a linked foreign card.

Tips for TFU

Tianfu is much farther out than Shuangliu; check which Chengdu airport your flight uses.
Line 19 links Tianfu and Shuangliu (T2 East station) in about 30 minutes on a direct train, about 50 minutes on a local; ¥10.
Board an express train on Line 18 if one is coming; it saves time.
